The turn out for our March 27th (327) National Chinese Stem Cell Drive had been simply phenomenal!! 4,025 people from our community registered with OneMatch in ONE DAY to become a potential stem cell donor. Sue Smith, Executive Director of OneMatch, said, "History was made today!"
The response from the Chinese community was nothing short of amazing and for that we have so many people to thank for the outstanding result. The awareness level we witnessed on 327 is due largely to the wonderful coverage in the Chinese media. It was truly heart warming to see the compassion of our fellow Chinese Canadians for patients searching for stem cell donors.
The wonderful support from the public energized our team of volunteers. Many of them went without taking a lunch break and stayed beyond our 5 pm closing time to serve the public until 6 pm. Without their help, we could not have had such a successful event.
Our deepest appreciation to all who contributed to the Chinese stem cell initiative.
